History

Formed in 1959, Avis Industrial Corporation has grown from two plants producing locks, wheel covers, and hub caps, to a broadly diversified corporation whose wholly-owned subsidiaries produce a wide range of products for use primarily by the automotive, aerospace, material handling, construction, and recycling industries.

1969

Avis Industrial Corporation was purchased by International General Industries of Washington, D.C. Nucleus companies of Avis were:

  • Central Fibre Products Company
  • Hurd Lock & Manufacturing Company
  • James Steel & Tube Co.
  • Melling Forging Company

1971

Avis merged with the Pierce Governor Company and corporate offices were moved to Upland, Indiana.

1974

Pacific Forge was acquired.

1979

The American Baler Co., was acquired.

1983

Avis Industrial Corporation was purchased from International General Industries by Leland and LaRita Boren and Richard and Mary Louise Doermer.

1986

Edgerton Forge was acquired.

1987

Crankshaft Machine Company was acquired.

1997

Sellick Equipment was acquired.

2002

U.S. Broach operations consolidated with Crankshaft.

2009

A.I. International was acquired.

2012

Peninsular Cylinder Co., Inc. was acquired.

2013

Harris Waste Management Group, Inc., and Harris Waste Management UK Limited were acquired.

2014

IPS baler line was acquired and made a part of Harris.

2022

FAMCO Service and Machine assets of the Punxsutawney location were purchased.
International Baler was acquired.
